2008 Self-Sufficiency Grants

The Eleanor Foundation makes grants and helps build programs promoting sustained economic self-sufficiency for working women of modest means living in Chicago. We leverage our resources and expertise with those of others to launch initiatives aimed at our target population.

On May 1, 2008, the Eleanor Foundation announced the third of its major new grant rounds: the 2008 Eleanor Foundation Self-Sufficiency Initiative. In 2007, the Foundation disbursed $1.5 million in grants to innovative programs that serve our target population; we issued follow-on funding later in 2007 and early in 2008.

In 2008, we expect to again disburse substantial awards in this third round of our grant-making. Interested organizations should submit an Request for Application by June 9, 2008. A list of FAQs is available to help answer your questions. You can also review a summary of our 2008 Self-Sufficiency Initiative in this presentation.
