Hub Grants
Heartland Human Care Services
Renewed our support for the IDEA Initiative—launched in 2006 as an employer-centered hub of the Eleanor Network. The program will diversify its reach through new employer partnerships that support workshops in English, Spanish and Korean. $250,000 renewal grant over 18 months
The Cara Program
Provided continuing to support the Cara Program's Self-Sufficiency Initiative—launched in 2006 as a hub of the Eleanor Network to advance women in entry-level jobs. The program's post-employment support will emphasize career advancement planning and asset building. $250,000 renewal grant over two years
Resource Grants
Chicago Women in Trades
Provided support to prepare single working women for the building trades. CWIT's program delivers skills training, apprenticeship placement and mentorship that helps women secure work in the industry. $40,000 over one year
Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC)
Continued support for the Women in Manufacturing program that was piloted with our 2008 funding. In addition to skills training for employer-driven jobs, JARC's program helps women apply for public benefits and provides financial coaching. $55,000 over one year
Lawyers Committee for Better Housing (LCBH)
Augmented LCBH's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds that are focused on counseling women about housing choices. An existing Eleanor Network member, LCBH will also help Eleanor Women affected by foreclosure. $6,000 over one year
Restaurant Opportunities Center (ROC)
Provided support to train and advance women from "back-of-the-house" to "front-of-the-house" hospitality jobs with higher wages. $50,000 over one year
St. Anthony Hospital
Renewed co-funding with the Steans Family Foundation and St. Anthony Hospital Foundation to continue support for the hospital's School at Work (SAW) program that educates and promotes employees into advanced-skilled, higher-paying jobs and address community healthcare needs. $36,000 renewal grant over one year
Youth Job Center of Evanston
Piloted a new career development program for young working mothers interested in healthcare and manufacturing industries. $42,000 over one year
