Eleanor Foundation Appoints Vicky Nurre Director of Development and Communications

(22 Oct 2008) – The Eleanor Foundation, the premier grantmaking fund that invests in innovative programs to help working women achieve economic independence, is pleased to announce the appointment of Vicky Nurre as Director of Development and Communications.

A longtime marketing and development professional with wide-ranging experience in the corporate and nonprofit sectors, Nurre assumed the responsibilities of the position on Wednesday, October 1, 2008. "Vicky is a talented professional with a demonstrated ability to achieve results that move an organization to the next level," said Rosanna Márquez, President of the Eleanor Foundation. "I am pleased to welcome her to the Foundation's management team."

A lifelong Midwesterner, Nurre's 20-year-career spans the professional services, technology and social service industries in numerous high-profile positions. Most recently she served as founding Chicago Managing Director for the Taproot Foundation, stewarding the local rollout of the national nonprofit consulting firm.

Previously, Nurre was a Vice President for Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and served as the Director of Marketing and Membership for the Chicago Jobs Council where she created capacity-building programs for workforce development groups.

Nurre holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Iowa at Iowa City. Nurre joins the Eleanor Foundation in the midst of its three-year Self-Sufficiency Initiative, a grants program that is creating a citywide network of resources and services to better support low-income working women's efforts to achieve economic security for their families.

Through the Initiative, the Foundation has exceeded its goal to award $2 million by 2008, having granted $2.5 million to date for new programs in affordable housing, childcare, career-track job training, and credit clean-up and financial management. Another round of awards will be announced later this year.
