Our Partners in Addressing Women's Economic Self-Sufficiency

The Eleanor Foundation has invested nearly $4 million to build the Eleanor Network—a citywide system of services that is helping Chicago's working women to achieve lasting economic security.

We know that women's needs and opportunities go beyond the capacity and experience of any single organization. That's why we work closely with our grantee partners to restructure programs that will better meet working women's needs, including the need for easy access to where they live or work. We also partner with like-minded investors to combine their resources with our strategic grants to expand the economic potential of working women.

Learn Kamilyn's Story

Unemployed and living in a shelter with her three children, Kamilyn Baskerville asked for help. She found it at The Cara Program, an Eleanor Foundation grantee partner. Now, Kamilyn works full-time, raises her family in a four-bedroom apartment, and goes to college.

"You have to set an example for your kids. You're their Spiderman and their Superman. So if they see you defeated, they'll think they can't do anything themselves."
