Women touched by the Eleanor Foundation's programs and services have some incredible stories to tell about their families, their experiences, their success. We want to celebrate these stories.
At its Annual Gala on May 19, the Neighborhood Writing Alliance (NWA) and the Eleanor Foundation announced a multifaceted partnership. Its primary purpose is to give voice to the working women in the Foundation's target population, celebrating their stories and raising their profile.
In 2009, NWA will publish an edition of its award-winning Journal of Ordinary Thought, dedicated to the stories and writings of low-income working women in Chicago. The issue is tentatively entitled, "The Choices We Make." Stories will come from participants from NWA's regular writing workshops, as well as from two new groups of women served by the Foundation's grantees. Video and other media will be created from the writings generated by this project.
