A network of resources to support economic self-sufficiency

JARC Helps Women Fill Manufacturing Jobs

Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) saw that local manufacturers were facing critical shortages of skilled workers. With the help of the Eleanor Foundation, they created Women in Manufacturing by utilizing the technical skills curriculum from its Careers in Manufacturing program. Eleanor Women learn how to program, set up and operate CNC machines for milling and turning operations - as well as learning how to use conventional manufacturing tools, operate forklifts and practice shop safety. A network of resources to support economic self-sufficiency

For the second consecutive year, Triple W Forum CEO Jennifer Connelly and her team have made it possible for our Eleanor Network colleagues to take part in their transformative workshops.

Earlier this fall, four Eleanor Network staff members and two Foundation staffers joined more than 30 professional women from around Chicago and the country at Triple W Forum Chicago. Together, they tapped national experts on work/life integration—with discussions focused on leadership, wellness, technology, organization and planning.

"I have taken what I learned at the forum back to my soft skills classes to pass on the knowledge to the ‘Women in Manufacturing' students," noted Emily Stinnet, program coordinator at Jane Addams Resource Corporation. "I have integrated some of these topics into my curriculum such as long-term goal setting, stress relief tips, group meditation, interpersonal styles and communication and leadership themes. Thanks to the Triple W organizers and conference attendees for providing such an insightful weekend."

Thanks to Triple W for these valuable scholarships—and making a difference in the lives of Chicago's single working women.
